What is the best advice someone has ever given you?
“If everything seems under control, you are not going fast enough”. The american race car driver, Mario Andretti, said this.

In the business world, where there is constant pursue of efficiency and control, this “advice” helps me think about keeping the right balance of push forward and control. You always have to live with some level of uncertainty of not feeling 100% under control and encourage and nurture that within your team so you can take calculated risks.

What advice would you give us?
Be courageous, take risks and keep yourself accountable to your decisions. Learn, participate, make decisions and challenge the status quo constantly. This will always take you further. And never settle. Always strive for more of what fulfills your life.

An essential quality to lead…
Honesty, responsibility, and accountability. Be yourself, tell the truth, make decisions with courage and determination, and keep you and your team accountable to the outcomes of those decisions.

What book, podcast, YouTube channel or any other type of content do you recommend us…
I have read several autobiography books lately that I really enjoyed. Some are business-focused, like “Shoe Dog” from Phil Knight, the creator of Nike, and Sam Walton’s “Made in America,” and others are about perseverance and achieving your dreams, like “Educated” by Sara Westover, “Solito” by Javier Zamora, and “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins.

I don’t do YouTube at all. I like reading old-school paper books that I can hold in my hands.

What historical figure would you like to have on your team?
This one is hard to answer, but I will go with Michael Jordan. He is a great example of hard work, perseverance, and a winning mentality that I would like to see in my team.

What is the bravest decision you have made in your life?
Moving far away from home twice was a life-changing decision for me. My first move was to England to learn English, and my second was to the US for professional development. Both were difficult, but absolutely worth it.

What is the most curious app you have on your mobile?
None. I took a path some time ago of limiting the number of apps I have on my phone and the amount of social media. So, my phone has a very limited number of apps and definitely nothing interesting.

What do people assume about you that isn’t true?
People assume I am very serious and unapproachable. But I like to think I am not – many people would probably disagree with me here -. I like to connect on a personal level with the people in my professional circle and enjoy as much as possible the significant amount of time we spend together.

What do you think will be the next revolution in your industry?
A boom in distributed generation and storage in every corner of life. Renewable generation and storage at massive scales and also at micro levels with a generalization of local distributed generation, such as having solar panels in every home along with batteries.

What is the last song you heard or remember?
I don’t listen to a lot of music, so probably whatever my wife was playing.

Tell us about a time when you messed up at work…
I have screwed up many times, some with more consequence and some with less. But the one I painfully remember was one where one of the people I was working with got hurt on the job many years ago. The thought of not stopping the job or calling out the risk before the accident happened is one of the most difficult thoughts and one that you carry forever.

What do you admire and do not tolerate in a person?
I admire accountability. If you say you are going to do something, then do it. On the other hand, I don’t tolerate a lack of accountability. I hate having to follow up with people for tasks they said they would do but didn’t.

What is the first moment you remember in your life?
My memory is terrible and I tend to not have many memories. I can tell you though which one is the moment I will never forget. My wedding day to my lovely wife. It was the most special day in my life and I have a lot of memories of it that I never want to forget.
